According to a new report from Chitika, Samsung continues to reign supreme over every other device that carries the Google-powered Android operating system.
According to the report, among all Android powered smartphones and tablets in the U.S. and Canada, Samsung scored 47.2 percent of all online traffic seen by the advertising and Web analytics firm. The number, according to CNET, is based on the number of ad impressions recorded by Chitika from June 17 to June 23 of this year.
Samsung has a track record of success when it comes to marketing new products to consumers. It is likely that helped its numbers quite a bit. However, 25 percent of the Web traffic appears to have come from Samsung's older devices such as the Galaxy Ace. In fact, among all of the devices Samsung has out right now, the Galaxy S3 captured the biggest chuck of the numbers at 32 percent.
To put into perspective just how much Amazon dwarfed its competiton, HTC falls into second place with 9.7 percent of the total Web traffic, followed closely by Motorola, which gained 9.5 percent. Meanwhile, Amazon took 8.8 percent with it's Kindle Fire accounting for the second-highest level of North American traffic among Android tablets.
"Despite inroads by Amazon, HTC, and other competitors, the Android market is dominated by Samsung in terms of user activity on the Web," Chitika said in its report released on Tuesday. "Aside from the large marketing budget, Samsung also offers a very wide variety of smartphones in terms of size, functions, and price, which likely also contributes to its large share in the space."
According to CNET, Chitika's studies typically encompass around 300 million ad impressions in the U.S. and Canada. They are measured by page views rather than unique visitors but that number can vary depending on the data being measured and the length of the study.
