Joan Rivers was highly respected in the comedy industry, but the comedienne had some serious disrespect for one of her peers. She never liked Ben Stiller, even though she was close friends with his comedian parents.
In an interview on "The Howard Stern Show," Stiller told the host that "she didn't like me" but admitted to not really knowing Rivers all that well.
"I never had an interaction with her," he said to Stern. "I didn't understand why she didn't like me - I mean I can understand that someone doesn't like me, whatever... You're allowed to have your opinion, but she had a thing because she was friends with my parents."
Rivers was a friend of Stern's and a frequent guest on his show. He told Stiller during the interview that Rivers' animosity stemmed from the actor ignoring her at a red carpet event.
"...I don't remember that happening, but I am sure it did," Stiller said. "And then I heard that there was a documentary or something and she [was asked] 'what do you think of Ben Stiller?' And she said 'lucky' or something... So then the beef started."
Stiller was quick to add that he regrets not being able to fix his relationship with the late Rivers.
"...I feel bad that we never got to work that out. She had an amazing career," he said.
