Get ready for a round of mix-ups, because rap superstar Jay-Z is officially changing his stage name, according to the Global Grind, and it may surprise you to learn what exactly he's changing it to!
According to producers, Shawn Carter will now be known as the stage name "Jay Z," effectively dropping the infamous hyphen from his name. Billboard magazine editor Joe Levy recently revealed the news via Twitter, writing, "Breaking: Jay Z has dropped the hyphen from his name, according to his label. I am not kidding. (Wish I was.) Copy editors: take note."
So Jay Z is no longer "Jay-Z," a move that dedicated fans may have seen (and heard!) coming, as there's a new song on Jay's latest album "Magna Carta Holy Carta" entiled "Jay Z Blue," sans the hyphen, of course.
This morning, Billboard enforced the story's legitimacy, listing "Jay Z" in an article about his Legends of Summer tour with Justin Timberlake.
Last night, Michelle Obama was spotted along with her two daughters Natasha and Malia at Beyoncé's concert in Chicago. The First Lady of the United States was in town this week to speak about school career programs.
