'Gay' Lyrics In 'Girl Crush' Causing Country Radio Stations To Pull Little Big Town's Hit Song

Radio stations across the country are being pressured to stop playing the country song "Girl Crush" by Little Big Town because it's "promoting a gay agenda."

The song describes a woman's jealousy over her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend in such a provocative way that it's upsetting radio listeners.

"I want to taste her lips, yeah cause they taste like you / I want to drown myself in a bottle of her perfume," vocalist Karen Fairchild sings. "I want her long blond hair, I want her magic touch / Yeah cause maybe then, you'd want me just as much. . . I got a girl crush."

Several stations across the country reported pressures to remove the song. One comment that especially sticks out is this one received by a Texas program director:

"You are just promoting the gay agenda on your station and I am changing the channel and never listening to you ever again!!"

Despite the backlash radio stations are receiving, "Girl Crush" is ranked number four on iTunes, despite its much lower 33 ranking among radio stations, reported Washington Post.

Some stations across the country have removed the song from their regular rotation, but some stations are fighting back.

"Is it frustrating to you that here is your song - that is one of the Top 10 sellers for weeks and weeks and weeks - and people on the radio are still afraid to play it because they think it's a 'lesbian song? It would drive me insane," Syndicated radio personality Bobby Bones, who hosts the nation's most popular country morning show, told WP.
