Actress Drea De Matteo is one of the tenants left homeless after a massive explosion and raging fire caused two buildings to collapse in New York City on Thursday afternoon.
De Matteo posted two photos of the fire blazing and the empty lot where her building once stood. She lived in the East Village building in Manhattan for 22 years.
"NYC's finest trying to put out the flames to mine n many others apartments. Speechless..." she caption the photo of the fire. "[Pray] for those that hurt."
New York City Bill de Blasio said in a news conference on Thursday that "preliminary evidence suggests a gas-related explosion" as the culprit for the fire, caused by plumbing and gas work under the building, according to The New York Times. More than 250 firefighters responded to the seven-alarm fire.
At least 19 people were injured. Four were critically injured and four were firefighters taken to the hospitals for minor injuries, according to the Times. A 23-year-old man still remains missing.
