Hugh Jackman Leaving ‘X-Men’ Franchise: ‘Wolverine… One Last Time’

Hugh Jackman will put away his claws for good when he completes filming on his third and last “Wolverine” movie.

Jackman announced his plans to retire his X-Men character Logan, a.k.a. Wolverine, on Sunday in an Instagram post. “WOLVERINE… ONE LAST TIME. HJ,” he captioned his photo.

The Aussie actor first suited up as arguably the most popular mutant in 2000’s “X-Men.” He has starred or made an appearance in seven “X-Men” films (counting his brief cameo in “X-Men: First Class).

Jackman is rumored to appear as Wolverine in the upcoming “X-Men Apocalypse,” which premieres on May 27, 2016. The untitled “Wolverine” sequel will hits theaters on March 3, 2017.

Jackman will next star as the pirate Blackbeard in the film “Pan,” an origin story of the famous Peter Pan. The movie premieres on July 24.
