Less than a week after Zayn Malik officially announced his departure from pop boy band One Direction, the 22-year-old singer has already released a clip of his new music.
A day after he quit the band - on March 26 -he spent several hours in a studio with music producer Naughty Boy. Even though Malik claimed that everything was copacetic between him and his 1D boys, tweets posted by Naughty Boy left Louis Tomlinson feeling angry, and he didn't keep quiet about it.
Naughty Boy tweeted and then retweeted his posts that suggested that he had "saved" Malik from One Direction, according to Us Weekly. The Twitter feud took place hours before Malik's first solo track was released on March 31.
"Naughty Boy Saved My Life Zaughty," read one message within a video that has since been deleted.
The 30-year-old music producer, who has also worked with Sam Smith and Rihanna, tweeted, "You're the most important part of this jigsaw," followed by a quote, "Respect yourself enough to walk away from anything that no longer serves you, grows you, or makes you happy."
Tomlinson came across the tweets, and felt as if they were directed towards the band and Malik's recent departure.
"Wow @NaughtyBoyMusic you're so inconsiderate pal. Seriously how f---ing old are you? Grow up! #masterofallwisdom," he wrote.
Naughty boy quickly responded with, "@Louis_Tomlinson calm down. was talkin bout Louis Walsh cuz he didn't let someone through on X factor. Look @ the date of the tweet. #2014."
Tomlinson - who is said to be one of Zayn Malik's closest pals - didn't stop there.
"@NaughtyBoyMusic I was talking about the video you tweeted. Clearly trying to wind the fans up! Well you succeeded anyway. Fair play," he wrote.
After the argument, Naughty Boy released a clip of Malik's solo music along with the message, "Let the music do the talking guys. thank us later."
The song, titled "I Won't Mind," is available on SoundCloud, and reportedly includes the caption, "There is nothing but love for what was left behind. That's why we don't mind. ;) #zaughty #zinabad," according to the BBC.
Time will tell if One Direction will survive or if the band is destined for a break-up.
