Lea Michele Cory Monteith Death Update: How The 'Glee Actress' Found Out The News

Nearly one week after "Glee" star Cory Monteith was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room, sources are sharing how girlfriend Lea Michele found out the tragic news.

According to Us Weekly, Michele was in Los Angeles when she received the phone call at around 10 p.m. on July 13, the day Monteith's body was found. A source said contacts were desperate to reach her before the news broke in the press.

"Lea completely lost her mind," the source shared. "She went crazy, screaming and crying until 3 a.m.

"[She] is inconsolable and feels like she's been hit by a truck. She didn't know he'd started using again."

Monteith, who was open about his past struggles with drug abuse and just completed a month-long stint in rehab, died of an overdose of heroin and alcohol.

As Michele struggles to cope with the loss of her boyfriend of one-year, she has stayed silent, only releasing statements through her rep.

"Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she's received from family, friends and fans," the most recent one read. "Since Cory's passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them. They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory's family."

Michele's "Glee" co-stars have also been making statements about the loss of their cast-mate and friend. Mostly recently, Amber Riley tweeted her reaction to the tragic ordeal.

"Yesterday I got to sit with my Glee family and remember a man I considered a brother and a friend," she wrote on July 18. "With a very heavy heart, RIP Cory Monteith. Continued prayer for his family and Lea. Sending hugs to all you Gleeks."

Naya Rivera, Dianna Agron and Jane Lynch have also responded publically to the news.

According to TMZ, Monteith was cremated on July 16.
