Director David Ayer's "Suicide Squad" is generating a lot of hype among comic book movie fans, not only because it will be the first ever on-screen team up of super villains, but also because it will expand the growing DC Cinematic Universe.
But how exactly will it fit into the chronology of the DCCU?
"Suicide Squad is set & takes place between events of Man of Steel & Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," Latino Review's Umberto Gonzalez tweeted. Of course, this rumor is still unconfirmed. But if true, it would be very interesting.
"Suicide Squad" will be released five months after "Batman V Superman" with certain story lines thought to be connecting. Ben Affleck's Batman is rumored to be an urban legend of sorts who is viewed as a threat by Amanda Waller and the government and, by extension, possibly Superman himself. He may or may not be making an appearance in "Suicide Squad."
As of now, it is assumed that Batman, Superman (and possibly Wonder Woman) will all team up at the end of "Dawn of Justice" to stop a massive threat. If that is the case, it seems odd that Batman would still be viewed so skeptically by the government.
If Bruce Wayne's alter-ego is still under government fire in "Suicide Squad" then it makes some sense that he has not yet teamed up with other heroes to save the world and prove that he's a good guy once and for all.
Hopefully, fans will get a bit of clarity with the first full teaser trailer for "Batman V Superman" which will accompany the theatrical release of "Mad Max: Fury Road" on May 15.
