Katie Couric is ready to take the next step in her diverse career that has taken the journalist from NBC's Today Show to the Global Anchor position at Yahoo News!
A report from Variety has Couric attached to a comedy centered around a morning news show. Couric will potentially be an executive producer for the untitled project.
According to Variety, actress Michelle Pfeiffer, who would play the lead anchor on the show, and Couric have been pitching the show to multiple networks, including Amazon, AMC, HBO, Netflix and Showtime.
The creator of the show, Diane English of "Murphy Brown" fame, has also been talking the show up to potential suitors as well.
Couric would be executive producing alongside Eric and Kim Tannenbaum, both of whom worked on CBS's successful comedy series "Two and a Half Men."
Variety noted that Couric is not part of the project for biographical reasons, but rather to "ensure the series strikes realistic notes."
