Kevin Hart is a comedic genius, and he'll soon have an award to prove it.
MTV announced Monday, that the 35-year-old "Ride Along" actor will be honored with the Comedic Genius Award at the 2015 MTV Movie Awards next month. Hart made the announcement in a short video which shows the comedian bragging to his third grade nemesis about being named the "funniest man alive" by MTV.
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel will present Hart with the award, which will recognize him for his "bold and irreverent comedic style that has captivated audiences from his movies and sitcoms, to stand-up specials, award show performances and in front of packed arenas of fans," MTV said in a statement about the award.
Hart has had success as a stand-up comedian with multiple stand-up specials, and his movie credits include "Ride Along," "Think Like a Man," "About Last Night" and "The Wedding Ringer." He is also the executive producer of BET's series "Real Husbands of Hollywood." Hart will be following in the footsteps of his "Get Hard" co-star Ferrell, who received the Comedic Genius Award at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards.
Amy Schumer is set to host the 24th annual event and nominees include Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Scarlett Johansson, Emma Stone, Chris Pratt, Jennifer Lopez, Eddie Redmayne, Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans, Elizabeth Banks, James Franco, and David Oyelowo. Also in attendance will be "Hot Pursuit" co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara, Vin Diesel, Dylan O'Brien, Miles Teller and Trailblazer Award recipient Shailene Woodley.
The 2015 MTV Movie Awards will be held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday, April 12 at 8 P.M. ET.
