MTV Movie Awards 2015: ‘Avengers’ Cast Will Honor Robert Downey Jr. And Debut New ‘Age Of Ultron’ Clip

The Avengers are assembling and taking over the "MTV Movie Awards."

The stars of Marvel's superhero team will take the stage at the Nokia Theatre on Sunday, April 12 to honor their fearless leader, Robert Downey Jr., with the annual Generation Award. Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth and Jeremy Renner will present the award to the "Iron Man" star.

"Throughout his career, Robert Downey Jr. has mesmerized audiences by capturing the humanity in larger-than-life characters like Charlie Chaplin, Sherlock Holmes and Tony Stark," MTV President Stephen Friedman said in a statement. "He's a brilliant actor and a Hollywood icon, and we are proud to recognize his tremendous passion and talent with this year's Generation Award."

MTV has handed out the top honor since 2005. Past recipients include Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey, Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Sandra Bullock, Reese Witherspoon, Johnny Depp, Jamie Foxx and Mark Wahlberg.

Downey and his 'Avengers' co-horts also will premiere an exclusive 90-second clip from the upcoming "Avengers: Age of Ultron." The movie hits theaters on May 1.

Amy Schumer will serve as host of the "2015 MTV Movie Awards," which will also honor Kevin Hart with the Comedic Genius award and Shailene Woodley with the Trailblazer Award.

The "MTV Movie Awards" will air on Sunday, April 12 at 8 p.m. on MTV.
