Author George R.R. Martin, whose series "A Song of Ice and Fire" is the source material for HBO's hit series "Game of Thrones," has been under a lot of scrutiny from readers lately. With word that "Thrones" will pass the narrative timeline of the book series, reader have been clamoring for Martin to finish his upcoming novel and sixth entry in the series, "The Winds of Winter."
To quiet the growing criticism, Martin had announced that he would be skipping several conventions and withdrawing from penning an episode of the TV series this season to focus on completing his novel. Today, he has given fans a small glimpse into his latest work.
Martin released a preview chapter from "The Winds of Winter" that is told from Sansa Stark's point of view. Fair warning: it obviously contains spoilers as it is breaking new ground. Martin has not yet revealed a publication date for "The Winds of Winter" though he did say it will not be coming in 2015.
