Fans have been eagerly attempting to connect the dots ever since "Captain America: Civil War" was announced as the third film in the Steve Rogers franchise. Who will be involved in this film and what side of the line will they fall on?
So far, we know that Cap is going to go toe-to-toe with Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man and all of Marvel's heroes will be forced to choose sides. Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) have been confirmed to be appearing. Spider-Man is all but a lock to make a cameo. So who else will be joining the fun?
Marvel is launching an ambitious television plan on Netflix that will eventually introduce The Defenders, a group of street-level vigilantes. This plan will kick off with "Daredevil" which will debut on April 10. Headlining the series is Charlie Cox ("Boardwalk Empire") who spoke to IGN about "Civil War."
"I've been reading Civil War - and Daredevil does appear in that," he said. "And look - again, just to clarify - I have not been called about that. I haven't been invited to that party! But it would be very very cool. Just to be in the background, saying cool stuff every now and then. It would be cool to be with all those guys."
Should fans expect an appearance from the man without fear?
Well, Marvel prides itself on its interconnectedness and shared continuity world building across several different media. Their slate of Netflix series are an extension of that and definitely take place in the same universe.
The plot of "Civil War" also lends itself to a whole host of super powered cameos. The movie will need a handful of extra heroes to represent both sides of the central conflict, especially without Thor and Hulk being involved. Including Daredevil and other lesser known heroes may be a necessity.
"Captain America: Civil War" will hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
