ABC is getting things started to bring "The Muppet Show" back to television.
The network has ordered a pilot presentation for the show's revival, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "The Big Bang Theory" co-creator Bill Prady and Bob Kushell will write the script, and Kushell would also serve as the showrunner.
The new "Muppet Show" would star Jim Henson's beloved characters including Kermit the Frog, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Animal and, of course, Miss Piggy.
The series would start with everyone meeting at ABC Studios to talk about reviving the show, but it won't happen unless Miss Piggy signs on, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Unfortunately, the relationship between Miss Piggy and her love interest Kermit is "on the rocks" and may prevent the show from moving forward before it even begins.
The first episode would include two cameos, including Miss Piggy's current co-star, as well as new roles for Fozzie's girlfriend and her parents. Some of the original Muppet performers also will return as the pilot starts shooting on the Disney lot next weekend.
The original "Muppet Show" ran from 1976 to 1981. It also spawned numerous movies including "The Muppet Movie" (1979), "The Great Muppet Caper" (1981) and "The Muppets Take Manhattan" (1984).
