Kendrick Lamar is engaged!
The 27-year-old Grammy-winning rapper confirmed his engagement to longtime girlfriend and high school sweetheart, Whitney Alford.
In an on-air interview with The Breakfast Club Power 105.1 on Friday, the "Don't Kill My Vibe" rapper responded to rumors surrounding a possible engagement after Alford was spotted with a diamond ring on her left hand's ring finger.
When asked if the rumors were true, Lamar replied "Yeah, definitely. I'm loyal to the soil."
"At the end of the day you want to always have loyal people around you whether it's male or female," Lamar said. "Everybody that has been around me they've been around me since day one and I can't change that. I always show respect where respect has been given. People have been by your side, you're supposed to honor that and that's how you stand up."
Us Weekly reported that the rapper and his now-fiancée have been dating for about 10 years. In an interview with Billboard Magazine this past January, Lamar called Alford his "best friend."
"I wouldn't even call her my girl," he said. "That's my best friend. I don't even like the term that society has put in the world as far as being a companion, she's somebody I can tell my fears to."
