Here are five steps to make dyeing Easter eggs fun and stress-free.
What You'll Need:
Hard-boiled eggs
Paper towels
Bowl or cup deep enough to completely submerge an egg
Tongs, egg dipper, or slotted spoon
1/2 cup boiling water
1 teaspoon white vinegar
Liquid food coloring (about 20 drops per color)
1. Once, you've finished boiling the eggs, let them cool.
2. Cover your working area with paper towels.
3. Mix water, vinegar and food coloring in your bowl/cup
4. Place the egg on a spoon and dunk into bowl. Be sure to rotate to make sure all sides are dyed equally. Keep the egg in the liquid for 5 minutes, or longer if you prefer darker colors.
5. Remove the egg and set aside to dry. It's that simple!
If you'd rather not purchase separate materials, you can always utilize Paas' Easter Egg dyeing kit that comes with tablets for unique, bold colors. Paas has been around since the 1880s, and is always a go-to choice.
If you want to write the names of your family members on each egg, use a yellow or white crayon and write the name before dipping into the dye. Once the dye is dried, you can decorate each egg with stickers or just arrange them on an elegant serving dish. Easter grasses and candies surrounding the eggs are always a nice option that protects the eggs from rolling.
Plus, you don't want to wind up like Marcie from "A Charlie Brown Easter" when she attempts to color eggs for the first time. When Peppermint Patty tries to teach her, Marcie doesn't understand the concept of preparing the eggs. After everything has gone wrong, Peppermint Patty and Marcie run out of eggs and money!
