A Pennsylvania judge compared a female teacher to "candy" as he sentenced her to 30 days in jail for having sex with a 17-year-old student, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Erica Ann Ginnetti, 35, was sentenced Friday on charges of institutional sexual assault and disseminating sexually explicit materials that allegedly took place while she taught AP math at Lower Moreland High School in 2013.
The married mother of three allegedly sent semi-nude photos and videos of herself to the student, the newspaper reported.
"That's candy to a young man," Montgomery County Court Judge Garret D. Page said as he sentenced the defendant to 30 days plus 60 days house arrest.
Ginnetti will also have to register as a sex offender and be on probation for three years.
"I don't believe you're a bad human being," Page added. "You did a bad act. So I have to punish you."
Investigators say Ginnetti initiated a flirtatious relationship with the student in spring 2013 after approaching him at a school dance. She sent him pictures of her wearing nothing but a thong and videos of her undressing in a sexual manor, according to The Huffington Post.
In July 2013, the teacher allegedly had sex with the teen inside her car at an industrial park outside Philadelphia.
Ginnetti was fired from her job following her arrest and pleaded guilty to the charges in December, according to the Inquirer.
At her Friday sentencing, Ginnetti broke down in tears as she read a letter of apology and said she now works as a fitness instructor.
"I have learned that actions have consequences," Ginnetti said.
