Chester, the dog no one wanted, was adopted after a sad picture of him went viral on the Internet.
Chester is a 6-year-old pit bull mix who lived at the North Fork Animal Welfare League on Long Island, N.Y., for most of his life, despite being adored by the whole staff.
The staff decided to help Chester by posting a picture of him moping over a sign with a message that tugged on the heartstrings of animal lovers across the world.
"Why doesn't anyone want me?" Chester asked on the sign. "I've been waiting five years. Everyone at the shelter tells me what a good boy I am so why has no one adopted me? I promise to be good and love my family...I sit and wait for you to come. Chester."
Chester's dreams finally came true after the post that was shared thousands of times.
The shelter reportedly was flooded with potential adopters quickly after the post was shared on Thursday.
Chester happily went home with his new forever family on Saturday, April 4.
