Little baby Duggar is finally here!
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard have welcomed their firstborn, Israel David Dillard, on Monday night at 11:49 p.m. The newborn weighed 9 pounds, 10 ounces and arrived at a hospital, instead of following the couple's natural homebirth plans, PEOPLE reported.
"We are so thankful for a healthy Mom and baby! read the statement from Jim-Bob and Michelle Duggar's official Facebook page. "Love this sweet baby Israel! We are happy grandparents and we promise more pictures soon!"
The "19 Kids and Counting" star has been open about experiencing her first pregnancy, and even posted several pictures of herself and her growing belly on social media. Jill's husband announced in a blog post last week that his wife was in the beginning stages of labor.
"I can't even describe right now the anticipation I am feeling, as I am about to get to meet my firstborn son for the first time face to face," he wrote. "So many people have already testified that nothing can quite describe that moment and that I'll just have to experience it for myself. When I look around, I can see new life everywhere. The trees are budding, which means summer is near. My wife, Jill, is beginning to have contractions which means that the birth of our son is near."
The couple's newborn arrived two weeks past his due date, but Jill told PEOPLE that she already planned "on [him] coming late," and told those who asked about the baby's arrival that the "baby will come when the baby comes."
The couple began dating in November 2013 after being set up by Jill's father and became engaged in April 2014. The two tied the knot nearly two months later, and Jill announced her pregnancy to PEOPLE Magazine in August 2014.
