Netflix: Ricky Gervais New Movie 'Special Correspondents' Coming In 2016

Netflix is continuing to grow its extensive list of original films with a new Ricky Gervais movie in 2016.

The deal for the movie "Special Correspondents" was announced Monday, April 6.

"Special Correspondents" is a satirical comedy that follows struggling radio journalist Eric Bana who follows fake war reports from New York.

The movie is expected to be a comedic hit, as it was written, produced and co-starred by Gervais, who is the creator of "The Office."

Ted Sarandos, the chief content officer for Netflix, refered to the film as "the kind of great grown-up comedy that studios rarely make anymore."

Gervais also expressed his gratitude towards Sarandos for bringing his film to Netflix in a statement by calling him "the new Godfather of entertainment."

On top of "Special Correspondents," Netflix has also recently signed deals to bring an Adam Sandler film on the movie streaming site, as well as documentaries produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and a potential "Full House" revival series.
