"Modern Family" star and Emmy nominee Jesse Tyler Ferguson wed lawyer and longtime partner Justin Mikita in New York City July 20, the actor's rep confirmed to People Magazine.
The couple, who dated for almost two years before becoming engaged in September on a trip to Mexico, tied the knot in a sweet star-studded ceremony before celebrating at 82 Mercer, a chic, over-the-top, vintage NYC event space.
Ferguson, who lives in L.A., said they started planning the New York nuptials before same-sex marriage was legal in California.
"Weddings are expensive y'all, and we wanted to give that money to a state that accepted us as an equal," he said on "The View" last month.
Celebrity guests included "Modern Family" co-stars Julie Bowen, Eric Stonestreet and Ty Burrell, and other famous friends like Padma Lakshmi, Jerry O'Connell, Rebecca Romijn, Zachary Quinto and Isaac Mizrahi. Also in attendance were stars from "So You Think You Can Dance," like Mary Murphy, Cat Deely and Nigel Lythgoe. Ferguson has served on as a guest judge on the popular FOX competition show.
After the couple said "I Do," guests took to tweeting their best wishes to the happy couple.
"Congratulations Jesse and Justin on your nuptials. As my gift to you, I'm going on your honeymoon with you. Just the three of us, k?" Stonestreet joked.
"I think the service at Justin and Jesse's wedding was so beautifully honest," tweeted Lythgoe, getting more serious. "It was so emotional that weren't laughing, we were crying."
Bowen added that the event was the "#bestweddingever."
The couple also shared their thoughts on social media with Ferguson tweeting that he's "never been happier" and Mikita noting how special it was to finally be able to call Ferguson his husband.
"We worked hard to call each other husband," he said. "So let's start using it."
In lieu of gifts, the couple asked that guests make donations to Tie The Knot, a charity they started to help same-sex couples fight for equal rights.
