Kim Kardashian is traveling to the land of her ancestors to honor the victims of the Armenia Genocide on the 100th anniversary.
Kardashian will visit Armenia, the country of her father's family, for the first time in her life. She departed for her trip on Wednesday from Los Angeles with husband Kanye West, daughter North, sister Khloé and other family members, according to The Guardian.
Kim and her family will visit the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial in the capital of Armenia, Yerevan. The Kardashians' late father Robert was a third-generation Armenian whose great-grandparents immigrated from Karakale, Kars (present day Turkey).
Kim has long supported the remembrance of the genocide instigated by the Ottoman Empire starting on April 24, 1915. On that date, 250 Armenian intellectuals and community leaders were rounded up in Constantinople. Throughout World War I, an estimated 1 to 1.5 million people were killed under the Ottoman government.
