Houston Texans RUMORS: Brett Hundley Targeted in NFL Draft?

The Houston Texans managed to finish 9-7 last season despite some up-and-down quarterback play. Five different signal-callers attempted a pass for the Texans in 2014. Although the team is out of reach of the draft's top QB prospects - Florida State's Jameis Winston and Oregon's Marcus Mariota - head coach Bill O'Brien may still be hoping to find his quarterback of the future.

Former UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley is in Houston for a pre-draft visit, according to ESPN. The Texans did not conduct a formal interview with Hundley at the NFL scouting combine, but that doesn't mean that they aren't interest in him.

Hundley threw for 9,966 yards, 75 touchdowns and 25 interceptions with a 67.4 completion percentage in three seasons as UCLA's starter. He also ran for 1,747 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Would the Texans consider taking him with the 16th overall pick?

"UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley has the size, he has the NFL arm," ESPN NFL Draft Insider Mel Kiper Jr. said. "...More than adequate arm strength. Can move around enough and create on third down some opportunities with his legs. Has to have a better clock in his head. Sits in that pocket, holds that ball too long, results in a lot of unwarranted sacks. Has to throw a little bit better with anticipation. He basically has the ability he just needs time. He's got the work ethic; he understands what it means to be a leader. Give him two to three years and maybe you have a successful starter."

Hundley helped his draft stock with a strong pro day in March. Geoff Mosher of CSN Philly believes he could go in the mid first-round, though most teams have him on the fringes of the front 32.

Hundley threw for 3,155 yards with 22 touchdowns and five interceptions last season.
