Scott Eastwood grew up with one of the most powerful men in Hollywood as a father, Clint Eastwood, but he had to work just as hard to succeed in a business dominated by his dear old dad.
The younger Eastwood detailed to People what it was like having the Oscar-winning actor and director as a father. Calling him "pretty old school," Scott says Clint made him work to earn what he wanted in life, like his first car.
"I've had a job since I can remember and it's not like he was like, 'Hey, what kind of car do you want?'" "The Longest Ride" star told People. "My first car was a '91 Ford Crown Victoria that was $1,000. And I had to buy every car after that. I had to do it all."
Scott says he spent much of his childhood being "dragged around to movie sets." He first stepped in front of the camera for his father's 2006 movie "Flags of Our Fathers" and again in 2008's "Gran Torino."
The fourth of Clint's seven children (among five women), Scott never planned to make acting a lifetime profession. He graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2008 and had an alternative route picked out if his acting career never took off.
"People think I just started, and I laugh," Scott said. "I said I would give myself 10 years, and if it didn't work out, I would be a firefighter or something. And things just sort of took off."
In addition to teaching his son the value of a dollar, Clint also wanted him to live a healthy lifestyle from a young age. It has obviously paid off.
"My dad was always super-active and got me in the gym at a young age," he said. "He wanted me to be health-conscious. Healthy body, healthy mind; that's what he preached to me."
Scott's latest film, "The Longest Ride," co-starring Britt Robertson, opens on April 10. He's currently filming the Oliver Stone film "Snowden" and will join the DC cinematic universe as Scott Trevor in "Suicide Squad" as well as in "Wonder Woman."
