Apple fans who pre-ordered the tech giant's Apple Watch found out Friday that they won't receive their gadgets as soon as they thought they would.
While the Cupertino, Calif.-based company announced during the watch's official launch event in March that consumers would be able to pick the device up in stores or have it delivered to their home starting on April 24, shipping dates for certain models have been pushed back as far as four to six weeks, according to Business Insider.
Different versions of the Sport model are listed on Apple's online store to be shipping in June, while shipping for the regular model is listed 4-6 weeks late. Shipping for versions of the Edition model have been pushed back to June or July.
Apple has a total of 38 different models of the Apple Watch available for pre-order at its online store, which exists in the U.S., the U.K., Canada, China, France, Germany, Australia, Hong Kong and Japan, TechCrunch reported.
Business Insider pointed out several possible reasons for the shipping delay, one of them being a failure to meet demand for the high-tech watch. The company could also be using the situation to generate more attention for the device on social media, thus making it look more popular. The variety in designs and straps for the watch could have also caused a stocking problem at stores.
Several consumers took to Twitter to express their displeasure with the delay, such as @the barryproject writing "Ordered the #apple #watch, but says won't arrive until #june. #booo. In better news, picking up my #galaxy s6 #edge #nerdtastic."
"Just ordered my #AppleWatch (42mm sport edition)," @jadedbucket tweeted. "It won't arrive until June... so much for Apr 24 launch!"
Apple can still be happy about all of the Apple Watch models in the U.S. selling out in only six hours.
