Marvel Eyeing ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Writers for ‘Captain Marvel’ Script

Marvel studios is reportedly eyeing "Guardians of the Galaxy" scribe Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve ("Inside Out") to pen the 2018 release "Captain Marvel," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The story will follow Carol Danvers who made her first appearance in 1968's "Marvel Super-Heroes" #13. Danvers was a security chief in the US air force before being granted superpowers after an explosion involving Kree technology. The Kree were represented by Ronan in "Guardians of the Galaxy." In recent iterations, Danvers was given her powers by a Kree who was living on Earth.

Not much is known about Marvel's vision for "Captain Marvel" other than Danvers' involvement. It was recently confirmed that a Captain Marvel cameo was originally a part of Joss Whedon's script for "Avengers: Age of Ultron." However, that plan was apparently scrapped with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige noting that they did not want to rush the character's introduction. As of now, no actress has been cast in the role.

"Captain Marvel" will be released on November 2, 2018.
