While Google has yet to officially unveil its new Android-powered Nexus 7 tablet device, information about the upcoming tablet's hardware has reportedly been leaked online just hours before Google's press event, which can be live streamed HERE.
The device is real. In fact, The Verge has noted that it is already available for pre-order at Best Buy, where most of the details concerning the new 7-inch tablet which have been leaked in the days leading up to the event.
As expected the Nexus 7 will run the, still unannounced, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. It will be available in a 16Gb version for $229.99 and a 32GB version for $269.99. It will sport a HD screen with 1,920 X 1,200 resolution, front and rear cameras at 1.2 and 5.0 megapixels respectively, Bluetooth 4.0, a 1.5Ghz Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 320 GPU, the same graphics card used in the popular Samsung Galaxy S4.
More details will likely emerge about the Nexus 7 tablet when Google's "Breakfast with Sundar Pichai" senior vice president at Google who oversees Android, kicks off at 12:00 p.m. EST. The Nexus 7 will likely be unveiled along with some other key functions that haven't already been leaked by Best Buy. It would make sense since Pichai is the one hosting the event. The Nexus 7, like a lot of Google devices, is a fantastic marrying of both Google hardware and the Android operating system.
Other likely candidates for the press event could be the new Chromebook. CNET speculates that it might be the perfect time to see the company take steps to marry the two operating systems together. As it stands right now Chrome is popular for Google but isn't in a position to integrate well with its most popular Android operating system apps.
