Ryan Gosling Eyed For ‘Blade Runner 2’

Ryan Gosling ("Drive") is in negotiations to star in the sequel to Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic "Blade Runner," according to Deadline. Harrison Ford, who can be seen as Han Solo in the latest "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" trailer, is already signed on to reprise his role as detective Rick Deckard.

Denis Villeneuve ("Prisoners") will helm the project from a script that Scott and Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the original, have been working on for years. The sequel reportedly takes place decades after the 1982 original in which Ford's character hunted down replicants, or genetically engineered humanoids.

As of now, there are no further details about the plot or what Gosling's role may be. However, it is rumored that Ford's role is a limited one. Some rumors have suggested that the sequel will actually follow a female protagonist, so perhaps Gosling is just a co-lead.

Filming is scheduled to begin in summer 2016.
