Green Bay Packers Draft RUMORS: Aaron Rodgers Getting TE Help?

The Green Bay Packers top draft priority is cornerback. That's what happens when two of your top three CBs leave in free agency. As such, Green Bay has been linked to LSU's Jalen Collins and Washington's Marcus Peters. But the Packers are also in need of an upgrade at the tight end position.

Re-signing Randall Cobb helped to solidify Green Bay's receiving corps, but the tight end position remains unproductive. No Packers TE had a positive DVOA (defense-adjusted value over average) last season, according to Football Outsiders. That is strange considering MVP Aaron Rodgers is the quarterback. Andrew Quarless is more of a depth guy, and Richard Rodgers didn't show much in his rookie season. Drafting a dynamic pass-catching option would help Green Bay's offense tremendously.

Minnesota's Maxx Williams is considered the top tight end prospect in the draft, but the No. 30 overall pick is a bit of a reach for him. That's why ESPN NFL Draft Insider Mel Kiper Jr. projects the Packers to select Miami TE Clive Walford with the No. 62 overall pick in the draft.

"The possibility of Walford that far down the board was simply too much player to pass up," Kiper wrote. "He's got the length, athleticism and big hands to be a weapon in the intermediate passing game, and he's an underrated athlete at 6-4 and over 250 pounds (he ran sub-4.8 and had a 35-inch vertical). Walford can also help out as a blocker even if he's not dominant in that area."

The NFL Draft will kickoff on April 30.
