The Marvel TV Universe received a huge boon from the overwhelmingly positive responses to Netflix's "Daredevil." Now it appears as if Marvel wants to continue building its ever growing TV presence.
Oscar-winning writer/producer John Ridley ("12 Years a Slave") is partnering with Marvel to create a new television series, Entertainment Weekly reports.
EW reports that the project involves "reinventing an existing Marvel superhero character or property for ABC - but all sides are staying quiet on exactly which title Ridley is adapting."
This news comes shortly after the reveal that Marvel and ABC are creating a spinoff series to the MCU continuity buffing "Agents of SHIELD." For those keeping score at home, that gives Marvel three current shows ("SHIELD," "Agent Carter" and "Daredevil") with a handful in the pipeline: "A.K.A. January Jones," "Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist").
Ridley is currently an executive producer on ABC's midseason drama "American Crime." Both ABC and Marvel are owned by parent company Disney. Ridley, who won an Academy Award for best adapted screenplay for "12 Years a Slave," is also writing/producing a 2016 update of "Ben Hur" for the big screen.
