NFL Draft RUMORS: Dallas Cowboys Denied Pre-Draft Visit By Dorial Green-Beckham?

While the Dallas Cowboys at first glance don't seem to have a glaring need at the wide receiver position, with star pass-catcher Dez Bryant staying away from the beginning of offseason workouts and the depth chart pretty thin beyond the star Pro Bowler, Terrance Williams and the diminutive Cole Beasley, it really wouldn't be all that surprising for Cowboys GM Jerry Jones to take a look at the spot fairly early in the 2015 NFL Draft.

To that end, a recent report suggests that the Cowboys attempted to host ultimate boom-or-bust prospect Dorial Green-Beckham, formerly of Missouri and Oklahoma, but that the mercurial talent declined.

"Former Missouri wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham declined a visit with the Dallas Cowboys, a source told FOXSports.com," writes Ross Jones of FOXSports.

Green-Beckham did make a couple of visits to NFL franchises last week, per NFL.com, to the San Francisco 49ers and the Cincinnati Bengals.

The 6-foot-5, 237-pound receiver would, based purely on altheticism and tape, easily be one of the top-20 selections in the looming 2015 NFL Draft, were it not for off-the-field issues including two arrests for marijuana possession which culminated in his dismissal from Missouri and led to his having never played a down for the Sooners, meaning that Green-Beckham is likely to be available into the second and possibly even the third-round later this month.

With Bryant, Williams and the jitter-bug Beasley in the fold, the Cowboys don't seem to have a pressing need, but should a player with as prodigious a potential upside as Green-Beckham be available in the second-round and/or Bryant's situation continue to fester or worsen, Jones and Co. would be hard-pressed not to pull the trigger.

To be entirely fair to Bryant, his decision to stay away from voluntary workouts is not an abnormal move from a player who has yet to sign their franchise tag, but there's also the seemingly continuous issues with his choice of representation, his split from advisor David Wells - a man the Cowboys reportedly believe Bryant needs in order to remain trouble-free - and the allegedly contentious nature of negotiations on a long-term deal to this point, to consider.
