'47 Ronin' Trailer Released: First Look of Keanu Reeves as Japanese Samurai

47 Ronin trailer has finally been released after the movie project has been five years in the making. The trailer offers the first glimpse of Keanu Reeves' as a sword-wielding warrior in new movie.

47 Ronin, is a fantasy-adventure-action film depicting a fictional account of the forty-seven Ronin, a real-life group of samurai in 18th-century Japan who avenge the murder of their master. The movie's first trailer for the movie finally offers fans a first glimpse of Keanu Reeves in the movie.

The Matrix portrays the character Kai who is warrior outcast and is enlisted by 47 samurai to seek revenge on a powerful overlord who slaughtered their master. The Ronin embark on a journey whose challenges would defeat most warriors.

The movie's release date was initially moved from November 21, 2012 to February 8, 2013, then again to Christmas Day 2013. Universal delayed the releas because the film needed reshoots and more time to complete its visual effects.

47 Ronin was filmed in early 2011 and its original budget was a hefty $175 million but has surpassed that figure, according to the Los Angeles Times.

As the trailer makes clear, there is no shortage of over-the-top visual effects in the film, but Universal has to make sure "47 Ronin" can hold its own against the monsters and beasts from Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," which opens just two weeks before "47 Ronin" finally arrives.
