Auto show enthusiasts who enjoy the added bonus of gorgeous models at the annual China Auto Show will be disappointed this year.
The event, which opened early this week in Shanghai, was forced to oust its usual bevy of babes thanks to Chinese authorities who want all eyes focused on the vehicles, CNN reported.
The skimpily dressed women, who paraded with the cars helped to draw crowds to car shows, but a nationwide crackdown on prostitution and pornography this year also disallowed the old auto marketing strategy, the Globe and Daily Mail reported.
The publication also reported that the automakers – led by Chinese manufacturer, Luxgen, which is a partnership between Yulon and Dong Feng Company –ask the female presenters to dance.
Dressed in tight, off-shoulder, high-slit, short blue dresses, the Luxgen girls performed a Chorus alongside the car models.
The other female presenters were outfitted with tablets to show visitors different car models.
In a related report, Forbes said that the Shanghai Auto Show covers close to 100 football fields and bested the Detroit Auto Show last year in terms of attendance.
Global brands such as Ford, General Motors, Harley-Davidson, Ferrari were in attendance to showcase their latest vehicle innovations.
