Telltale Games has done some amazing things in the gaming world. Its product line has opened doors and created enriched experiences in some of culture's favorite worlds and franchises, including "Game of Thrones," "The Walking Dead" and "Fables." But now, the company is teaming up with one of the biggest franchises to create a new game in one of the most popular fictional universes today: the Marvelverse.
Telltale announced in a blog post on Thursday its partnership with Marvel to tell a new story in the world of superheroes. "Announced this evening in San Francisco, we're excited to reveal an all-new partnership with the incredible team at Marvel Entertainment. We'll be teaming up on the development of an upcoming Telltale game series project set to premiere in 2017!" the company wrote.
This is a huge step for Telltale as a game developer. "Marvel has been very selective about who they partner with since settling in under the Disney umbrella. On the other side of the coin, however, Telltale Games' has been known for working with other folks' properties and adapting them to their unique point-and-click storytelling gameplay style (Borderlands, MineCraft, Game of Thrones). Telltale is no stranger to the comic book realm either, as their most critically acclaimed franchises, The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, are set in the comics' universes and actually feature characters straight from the pages," reported The Nerdist.
It's uncertain what properties Telltale will use to make the game, or if it will be set in Marvel's comic universe or its cinematic universe.
