Twitter has come up with a new feature for its Android app aimed at helping users avoid missing tweets they might like.
The feature, called Highlights, provides notifications twice a day of tweets, conversations and information that are based on your interests, according to Benchmark Reporter. These notifications will pop up in the form of a summary, giving users a chance to browse through tweets and trending stories.
The social networking giant said users can have a hard time keeping up with what's happening on Twitter on a consistent basis, and Highlights is intended to solve this problem.
"While your home timeline is a great place to browse through and engage with Tweets, we know it can be challenging to find the time to get through everything," Twitter software engineer Gordon Luk said in a blog post Thursday.
Android owners will have to go Account Handle in Settings, click on Mobile Notifications and check the Highlights box to turn the feature on, Benchmark Reporter said. Users can get to the list of stories and pick their favorites by swiping right on the app. Swiping again will bring them to their Twitter timeline.
"To create your Highlights, we look at thinks like the accounts and conversations that are popular among people you follow, Tweet from people you're closely tied to, topics and events that are trending in your area or within your network, and people that are popular or trending among people you follow," Twitter said in the post, CNET reported.
Twitter said it plans to make improvements to Highlights before making it available on other platforms in the future.
