The Adrian Peterson sweepstakes may not even be a reality as the Minnesota Vikings have continued to douse any speculation that they are moving the former MVP winning running back. However, if the team were to move him it would likely be before the end of the upcoming draft. In the next week, expect the Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jacksonville Jaguars and maybe the Atlanta Falcons to check in on his availability.
Yahoo! Sports NFL columnist Charles Robinson was a guest on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM on Wednesday and he said that the above teams are all interested in Peterson. He also said that he was 100 percent certain the Vikings would at least listen if the Cardinals called offering their first-round pick for Peterson. Whether or not Arizona or any other team is actually willing to part with such a high pick for a 30-year-old running back remains to be seen.
Robinson said that the Dallas Cowboys, long considered a favorite to land Peterson, are not in the running for the six-time Pro Bowler.
"Whoever says otherwise is 1,000 percent wrong," Robinson said. "The Cowboys have not spoken to the Minnesota Vikings about Adrian Peterson. It has not happened. They haven't offered a draft pick, they have not picked up the telephone to talk to the Minnesota Vikings about Adrian Peterson. It simply has not happened."
