The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island were evacuated after a suspicious package was found and a bomb threat was received on the phone, according to CNN.
The bomb threat was phoned in to the United States Park Police at 11:30 a.m., law enforcement officials told CNN. The threat specifically mentioned "something" inside one of the visitor's lockers.
Following the call, a park police bomb-sniffing dog reacted to one of the lockers during a sweep of the area, an official told CNN. The NYPD has sent out a bomb squad further investigate the matter.
Officials told CNN it is "not uncommon" for bomb-sniffing dogs to give off false positives during sweeps.
