Police Dog 'Oso' Saves El Salvador Police Friends From Grenade

Oso the hero dog saved the lives of his police friends when he protected them from a grenade attack in El Salvador last week.

When a group of attackers approached the El Salvador police officers, Oso, 9, instinctly ran towards the suspicious people to defend his police friends, The Dodo reported.

The attackers still launched the grenade, but Oso kept them from using the weapon too close to the police station. If Oso didn't intervene, officials suspect there would have been more damage - and possibly lives lost.

"Oso did not belong to the corporation, but he would always accompany us everywhere," one police officer told The Dodo.

Oso suffered from some lesions after the attack, but his veterinarian said he is already on the road to recovery.

When Oso is fully healed, he will become an honorary member of the anti-narcotics division, where many of the Salvadoran police force's dogs work.
