The St. Louis Rams have a lot of attractive pieces on their roster but the offensive line is still a concern. Greg Robinson, last year's No. 2 overall pick, is slated to start at left tackle this year. But with Nick Foles under center now, the Rams are likely hoping to solidify the right side of the line as well in this week's NFL Draft.
Iowa's Brandon Schereff is the top offensive lineman in the eyes of several analysts but he may not be on the board by the time St. Louis picks at No. 10. Would the Rams ever consider trading up for him?
"I suppose you can never rule that out but I don't get the impression the St. Louis Rams are in a spot where they want to give up any more of their picks, particularly for a guy who would likely play guard," ESPN Rams reporter Nick Wagoner wrote in his weekly mailbag. "They do like Brandon Scherff and I think he'd be at or near the top of the list if he slipped to 10 but I also think there momentum building toward an end in which he's not available when the Rams pick."
Scherff has been linked to the New York Jets (No. 6) and New York Giants (No. 9). If the Jets passed on him the Rams would likely have to trade up with the Atlanta Falcons for the No. 8 pick for the right to draft Scherff. Although you should never-say-never in the NFL Draft, Wagoner is probably right to assume that St. Louis wants to hold on to its remaining selections.
