USA meets Panama on Sunday in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup Final. The game starts at 4 p.m. ET. Watch the live stream HERE.
The winner on Sunday takes home the Gold Cup. USA has played well throughout the tournament, LatinosPost reports. The squad handed Belize a 6-1 defeat, then Cuba a 4-1 loss and Costa Rica a 1-0 loss. Advancing to the knockout round, Team USA dominated El Salvador in a 6-1 win and then beat Honduras in a 3-1 win, which earned the Americans a spot in the final.
Landon Donovan has made a strong case for a spot on the US team for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers and Brazil 2014. Donovan, who took time off from the US Men's Team, hasn't skipped a beat since his return — the 31-year-old has already notched five goals and a number of assists.
"It's the most relaxed I've felt," Donovan said, according to LatinosPosts. "I feel good, and I'm really enjoying it."
Donovan's performance hasn't surprised USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
"I have told him in our conversations that 'I measure you. Your benchmark is the best Landon Donovan ever,'" Klinsmann told reporters. "I'm not taking anything less than that. And he is trying to catch up with that."
USA will face a Panamanian squad that hasn't once lost in the tournament. Panama had a huge 2-1 win over Mexico and hasn't ever looked back. Panama won against Martinique before drawing against Canada. Panama advanced and defeated Cuba in the knockout round, 6-1. The squad continued its stellar performance with a 2-1 win over Mexico in the semifinals.
Prediction: USA 2-1 Panama.
