iPhone 5S Release Date and Specs: Apple To Launch New Device at September 18 Press Event Along With Low-Budget iPhone Lite/C

After months of speculation and a vague "fall" release date, new reports are claiming that the iPhone 5S finally has a release date. Claims from CurrentEditorials claim knowledge that Apple Inc. will unveil the new iPHone 5S alongside the low-cost plastic iPhone, nicknamed the iPhone Lite or iPhone C, on September 18.

The source claims that the iPhone 5S will launch with the iPhone Lite at a press event held by Apple and will become available to the public a little more than a week later in the U.S. on September 27. The source also claims the newest incarnation of the company's flagship smartphone will come with a price tag of $349 for its 16GB unlocked model.

The device is rumored to feature a 4-inch IGZO display with the same resolution as the iPhone 5. However, reports that Apple has been flirting with a larger screen have been circulating for the past few weeks. If these rumors are true, it is unlikely the company was able to incorporate a larger display screen and still produce enough units for a September release, but only time will tell. Further specs, according to DigitalSpy, include a faster A6 processor, quad-core SGX 554MP4 graphics, 2GB of RAM, an enhanced LTE radio, a 12-megapixel camera with a dual-LED flash, NGC support and fingerprint recognition technology.

Of course, it's important to note that all of these specs and release dates are simpy rumors until Apple Inc. officially announces or unveils anything to the public. The iPhone 5S, as well as the low-cost iPhone Lite, have been the subject of rumor for the past few months but Apple has not even announced that it is in fact working on a budget iPhone. A picture leaked on WeiPhone, shows plastic shipping cases with the iPhone 5C logo on it, hinting that the company has finally settled on a name for the low-cost multi-colored plastic iPhone. If reports are true, users only have to wait a little more than a month before getting their eyes on the next generation of smartphones from Apple.
