Radio host David "Kidd" Kraddick died suddenly July 27 at a charity golf tournament for his Kidd's Kids Foundation in New Orleans. He was 53.
Though no cause of death has been released, a statement was posted on the popular radio personality's website.
"Kidd devoted his life to making people smile every morning, and for 21 years his foundation has been dedicated to bringing joy to thousands of chronically and terminally ill children," the post read, referring to his charity, which helps fund trips to Disney World for terminally ill youth. "He died doing what he loved, and his final day was spent selflessly focused on those special children that meant the world to him. At the appropriate time, we will release more information about the cause of death."
Kraddick served as the host of "Kidd Kraddick in the Morning," a Dallas-based radio program syndicated by YEA Networks and heard on more than 75 Top 40 radio stations. He was known for his warm personality and relatable celebrity interviews.
Since his death, many celebrities have taken to social media to express their grief over the loss.
"Oh man, I just heard Kidd Kraddick died! He's my favorite childhood DJ," tweeted pop-sensation Kelly Clarkson. "What a sad day. His poor family. He was always nice to me from the beginning."
"#RIPKiddKraddick.. Grew up with you always on my radio," added Demi Lovato, who posted several messages. "Had the pleasure of meeting you back when I was 9 at a showcase where even way back then, you believed in my talent. Dallas, TX lost a hero tonight and my heart is broken for the KISS FM family. You're already missed Kidd."
Harry Styles, Victoria Justice, Pete Wentz, Joe Jonas, Ryan Seacrest, Dr. Phil, Ed Sheeran and Mark Cuban also posted about the sad news.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Kraddick's co-hosts will be taking a one-week break to mourn his death. After that, it is unclear how the show will continue.
