Sam Smith Cancels Australian Tour Dates Due to Vocal Hemorrhage

Sam Smith announced Tuesday on Instagram that he had to cancel his Australian tour due to vocal exhaustion, according to People.

"I am deeply, deeply, saddened," he began the post. "I have been vocally exhausted for a while now however last night in Sydney I had a small hemorrhage on my vocal chords."

Smith stated that he must rest his vocal cords until they are healed in order to avoid suffering from any "long-term" damage.

Fans, don't lose hope just yet. The "Stay with Me" artist confirmed that he will be announcing new, re-arranged dates "very shortly," his IG post read.

The Grammy award-winner said that having to cancel the shows "kills him."

Smith began his tour Saturday in Brisbane and played the first of his Sydney performances at the Hordern Pavilion on Monday. He was scheduled to play the second of his Sydney shows Tuesday night, People reported.

Here's to a speedy recovery!
