Dallas forced a fifth game with its 121-109 win Sunday in Game 4. Mavericks guard Monta Ellis led all scorers with 31 points, guard J.J. Barea added 17 points and 13 assists, and forward Al-Farouq Aminu chipped in with 16 points, capping a night that saw six Mavericks score in the double figures.
"We're going to fight," Barea said, according to ESPN. "We're not going to quit. We've got to go to Houston, and we've got to bring it back to Dallas."
Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle accused Houston earlier in the series as being too physical, but one key moment in the game came when Mavericks guard Devin Harris was called for a flagrant foul against Rockets star Dwight Howard. Harris wrapped his arms around Howard as the latter went for a basket and threw the 6-foot-11 center to the ground, a move that seemingly turned Howard into a nonfactor for the rest of the game.
"It's a big play," Carlisle said. "When you're at home, you've got to keep the energy up, you've got to keep the aggression up and you've got to do it in a way that's clean. It was a hard foul. There was no intent to hurt anybody."
Rockets star James Harden and forward Josh Smith turned in 24- and 23-point games, respectively, and guard Corey Brewer added 22 points while Howard finished with 13 points and seven rebounds.
"We're very upset about the way we handled ourselves tonight," Howard said. "It's not becoming of a championship team. It starts with myself and James. We've got to do a better job from the beginning of the game to the end of the game of leading our team."
