London Ranked 5th From Bottom In Most Value For Money Cities By TripAdvisor

TripAdvisor ranked London as the 5th worse value for money city to visit in spite of it being the best shopping destination in the world.

While London has a plethora of tourist attractions to offer a visitor, it's not a tourist's first choice when it comes to value for money. Travel website TripAdvisor has ranked the capital city of England the 5th worst city when it comes to value for money.

The result came after 75,000 people took part in a poll by TripAdvisor ranking the 40 most tourist attracting cities in the world based on their value for money. Some of the categories that people were asked to judge the city on included, friendliness of the locals, cleanliness, availability of transport, etc.

London was voted the fourth best place for shopping with New York taking poll position in this field followed by Bangkok and Dubai. Apart from that London was placed fifth by visitors for city taxi service.

Other than that, London failed to do well in other categories. The city was placed last but one in the local friendliness category with Moscow coming in at the last position and Hong Kong just above London.

"While London hasn't ranked particularly highly by those that have reviewed the city this year, it's important to remember that many of the respondents may have experienced London before major changes were made or post the events of the summer," said TripAdvisor spokesperson, Emma Shaw.

Toyota came out on top in various categories including "the city with the cleanest streets, the friendliest cab drivers, the best taxi service and the best public transport," reports Daily Mail.

"The popularity of London as one of the most visited cities in the world remains and travelers will continue to rave about it as a loved destination," Shaw said,

"Indeed this year London was voted the best city in the world in the 2012 TripAdvisor Travelers Choice Awards. Even so, this study perhaps proves that even a great city isn't going to be perfect in every way."
