Denver Nuggets star Ty Lawson appears to want out of the Mile High City. According to Lawson's Instagram account, the 27-year-old point guard would love for Denver to trade him to the Dallas Mavericks.
A comment presumably made by Lawson on Sunday suggests he wants to be traded. When another Instagram user commented to Lawson that he should play for the Mavericks, Lawson replied: "I wish." Lawson also said he was "way better" than Mavericks guard Rajon Rondo, who's likely on his way out of Dallas.
Although Lawson's comments on Instagram have since been deleted, a purported screenshot of them surfaced on Twitter.
Denver trading Lawson isn't out of the realm of possibility. Reports in February indicated the Nuggets were willing to part with him for the right offer, and a subsequent report claimed Denver's asking price was two first-round draft picks.
Lawson, who's due $25 million over the next two seasons, averaged 15.2 points and 9.6 assists per game during his 2014-15 campaign. He's one of the quickest players in the league, and if Denver chooses to rebuild this summer, dealing Lawson would net the team valuable assets to use in the process.
Another team linked to Lawson is the Sacramento Kings. One rumor floating around is coach George Karl, whom Lawson played for in Denver from 2009 to 2013, wants to reunite with his former player and will pursue a trade for him this summer.
