Asus Eyeing U.S. Smartphone Market

Asus is planning to enter the U.S. smartphone market and has been building relationships with carriers and retailers for a successful long run.

Asus, one of the world's leading computer manufacturers, is planning to invade the U.S. smartphone market by next year. The Taiwanese multinational company is working hard to build relationships with the U.S. smartphone carriers and retailers in a bid to gain better access to the market.

American consumers are always looking for new technology and smart gadgets, but the U.S. market is already saturated with stiff competition. Asus will have to do things a lot differently to find an edge in the market.

The U.S. market is long ruled by tech giants like Apple and Samsung in high-end smartphones and smaller companies like Huawei and ZTE take the lead in low-end devices. Asus has a long road ahead if it wants to make its presence felt.

The Asus Chairman Jonney Shih is confident that his company will make a mark in the U.S. smartphone market with the launch of its new devices. He believes the company is making progress despite its late coming, according to AllThingsD.

Shih said that the company is already working on its next device for the U.S. market debut, which is unlikely to be launched this year. "I think next year is more reasonable," Shih told AllThingsD in an interview during the launch of Nexus 7.

Asus announced the launch of its 6 Inch 1080p FonePad Note to be launched in the Indian market in the fourth quarter this year. The device, runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and will be priced under INR 40,000 ( around $665). The FonePad will compete with Sony Xperia Z Ultra and Samsung's Note 3. HTC is also reportedly due to announce a phablet later this year.

The competition is tough for the Taipei-based company but it is also developing the world's thinnest tablet measuring just 6mm to mark its presence, according to GizBot.
