Tyanna Jones saw her "American Idol" dreams come to an end on Wednesday night, but the Florida native won't be gone from the "Idol" stage for long.
Jones fell into the bottom two this week with her fellow performer Rayvon Owen. An assumed frontrunner, America gave more of its votes to Owen and left Jones eliminated.
Headlines & Global News caught up with Jones after last night's show to talk about going home, what she'll miss about "Idol" and what's next for the singer.
Headlines & Global News: You're not shocked that you're not in the competition anymore?
Tyanna Jones: I don't know. I'm going on the tour and I get to see my family and I know I have great things ahead. I'm still going to be performing and this isn't the end. I want to get into acting and a lot of other things. I can't let tonight stop me.
HNGN: And you'll only be off a week before you come back for the finale?
TJ: I know! I go to New York to do "Live! With Kelly and Michael" on Friday, see my family on the weekend and come back to start rehearsals for the finale on Monday. I'm off the show, but I'm not [laughs].
HNGN: And you leave with new friendships, new hair and a lot more confidence; what else are you taking away from this experience?
TJ: Everything I possibly can. I'm taking the signs, parts of the stage... NO! I'm taking all of the judges' comments and feedback along with the experience of the vocal coaches and band, as well as all the experiences I had with everyone working on the show backstage. I love them all.
HNGN: What was fun about the Nashville trip last week?
TJ: It was the second time I'd been there and it was a lot of fun. A lot of people recognized us and wanted to take pictures and said nice things.
HNGN: What will you miss most about American Idol?
TJ: Most definitely performing. My favorite part of this whole experience has been performing. Just getting to connect with an audience and getting feedback from people that have been doing this way longer than I have.
HNGN: What do you think you'll miss the least?
TJ: Not getting sleep! When I found out I hadn't made it through, I went backstage with my mom to lay down. I was about to sleep till I couldn't sleep anymore [laughs].
HNGN: Was it hard to deliver that swan song after being eliminated?
TJ: It hit me when they said they had that video for me, I was like, "Dude!" But I was fine. Being here has taught me, as a performer and artist, that you can't let your personal feelings get in the way of a performance. There are still people watching and wanting to hear you, so I had to remember even though I'm sad, I have to kill this song. First of all, it's Beyoncé - I can't let her down.
"American Idol" airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
