Kendall Jenner may seem like she's taking over the fashion scene, but the runway model admits she didn't succeed without having to overcome some obstacles.
In a new interview with V Magazine, the 19-year-old model and reality star said that people in the fashion industry were not so receptive of her during the beginning stages of her career, adding that her family's famous reality show, "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," actually prevented her from getting signed.
"You have no idea how many doors closed on me and how many adults were either initially reluctant to take a chance working with me or who outright laughed at me behind my back," she recalled. "It was kind of hard because all I was doing was going on go-sees [when models go out to meet agencies, designers, etc.], trying my best to break into this business as a teenager."
Kim Kardashian's younger sister gives credit to several designers for believing in her, saying, "I am so grateful to Marc Jacobs, Riccardo Tisci, Karl Lagerfeld, and Katie Grand, who took a chance on me that first season and gave me an opportunity. My parents taught me that work ethic is one of the most important keys in life, and I believe it."
Jenner is also excited about being the new face of Calvin Klein.
"This will be my first billboard on Sunset (Boulevard), which I'm ecstatic about," she said. "It's really humbling, and honestly, I am a pretty shy person, but being part of the Calvin campaign and seeing myself up there will be a dream come true."
